While poinsettias actually aren’t all that problematic for your kitty (really — it’s an urban legend!), some plants and flowers — like lilies (Tip #97), sago palm, cyclamen, and several others — definitely are! And even those that won’t kill your cat can still cause some pretty unsettling vomiting, diarrhea, and other problems. So, be careful with the flowers and plants you bring or allow into your home, and share this info with your friends, family, and florist so they don’t unknowingly send or bring over bouquets that could sicken or kill your kitty. And remember, cats LOVE to climb and jump, so putting flowers up high, well … that won’t truly protect your cat. Also, petals and leaves wilt, die, and fall to the ground, where even a lazy feline can find them.
