“Safe for people,” even for babies, does not equal “safe for cats” and many people — including “people” doctors and nurses — have unintentionally poisoned, sickened, and even killed their own cat by self-prescribing. Medications and supplements should be given to your cat only on the advice of a veterinarian. Even if you are a human pharmacist, medical doctor, or nurse, you should follow this tip, as the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of certain drugs vary significantly between species. And while we’re on the subject, “safe for dogs” doesn’t necessarily mean “safe for cats” either. Again, check with your vet first!
