Senior cats spend a lot of time lounging. Let’s give them the epitome of lounge spots!
Many senior kitties love a heated bed. There are non-electric styles that trap body heat naturally and plug-in styles that warm to a safe and comfortable temperature.
These are especially magical for cats with arthritis or other painful conditions.
Senior cats also tend to lose muscle and fat, making it harder to stay warm. A heated bed will feel like heaven.
Electric beds should be made specifically for cats. Don’t use a human heating pad. They’re not designed for hours of continuous use and can get much too hot. Use a cord cover if your cat is a chewer.
Orthopedic beds can also be helpful for senior cats. The support can ease physical discomfort and make it easier for your cat to get in and out of bed.
Take your cat’s preferences into account, too. There are options for cats who like caves, open beds, low entry points, high sides, and even a place to rest their head.
