Supplements can help prevent or manage many age-related conditions. But not all supplements are created equal! Buy high-quality, purity-tested supplements formulated or recommended by a veterinarian. Ideally, there shouldn’t be any artificial flavorings, additives, or fillers. The main ingredients will be listed first.
Joints: To prevent or slow arthritis, stick to well-researched ingredients like glucosamine, chondroitin, Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM), avocado soybean unsaponifiables (ASUs), Boswellia serrata extract, and green lipid mussel. Additionally, Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) in fish oil turns off the enzyme that causes cartilage deterioration.
Skin, heart, and kidneys: Omega-3 fatty acids, specifically EPA and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), found in fish oils, help decrease inflammation.
Gastrointestinal (GI) tract: Stress and illness can alter the gut microbiome, leading to diarrhea, gas, or cramping. Probiotics support a healthy GI tract, which helps boost your cat’s immune system.
Never give human supplements. They may contain ingredients that are toxic to cats, like xylitol, vitamin D, caffeine, iron, calcium, etc.
