No one knows your cat like you do. It’s time to take this knowledge and mastery of your cell phone and become your cat’s paparazzi. Why? It’s hard to recognize gradual changes when you interact with your cat every day. And they’re great at hiding issues. Photos and videos can help you catch changes and share them with your care team.
If something seems “off,” catch it on video and look back at previous pics or videos to confirm whether there has been a change.
Take pictures of skin issues when you first notice them and up the time that your vet can examine them. This helps provide a timeline of change for your veterinarian.
Videos of your cat’s behavior, like how they walk, jump, vocalize, or eat, can help you convey issues to your vet. As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Keep a detailed journal of your observations. Descriptively naming the files can help, too (especially photos of skin issues). Add the date and describe the location of the issue in the file name (i.e., top right shoulder or back left paw). You can also create a separate album on your phone to store your cat health photos. This makes it easier to find the file you need and reminds you exactly where the issue is on your cat.
