How to keep your cat’s memory alive

Saying goodbye is hard. Creating ways to remember your cat can be pretty wonderful. Honoring them and the bond you shared is a lovely way to move through your grief. Here are some ideas. Use what you know and love about your cat to come up with others.

  • A paw print, imprint, or clipping of their fur from their favorite scritches spot can be a beautiful framed piece.
  • Donate or volunteer with a shelter, rescue, or clinic in your cat's memory.
  • Pass some of your cat's most loved items, like food and water dishes, beds, and toys, to a shelter so another cat can enjoy them. Just make sure they're washable.
  • Try fostering cats in need of homes to honor the life you shared with your cat by helping other cats find that same connection while they wait for a forever home.
  • Have a sketch or painting of your cat done by a local artist.
  • Place a special steppingstone or rock outside your cat's favorite sunny window. You could also plant a cat-safe shrub or flowers.
  • Ashes can be made into jewelry, so you can always keep them close or sprinkled under a flowering tree so they bloom each spring.

There are many ways to remember your sweet cat with light and love.
