Your windows are … well … windows … to a whole world of enrichment for your senior cat. There's lots of interesting stuff out there for your cat to watch, sniff, and listen to.
Setting up bird and other critter feeders offers lots of activity and sound to stimulate their senses. Your cat shouldn’t get frustrated that they can’t “catch” the prey if they’re getting good hunting play with you at other times (Tip #75). If you notice they seem stressed watching the critters, skip this one.
How about sniffing the breeze through an open window?
This is terrific for cats with limited mobility. Make it easy for them to access windows by providing shallow ramps or steps. Be sure they have a wide, solid place to perch, like a deep windowsill or piece of furniture. If it's a slick surface, add a mat or blanket so they won't slide. And it's important to have escape-proof windows so your cat doesn't fall through a flimsy screen!
